There is even the opportunity to touch and hold some of these animals, which can give your children a better appreciation for the animals in our oceans. You can even catch a feeding frenzy, and touch juvenile nurse sharks!

Once you’ve checked out the marine life, now might be the perfect time to enjoy some of the creatures that live on the shore. This includes exotic birds, and hundreds of butterflies, along with all of the flowers that thrive in the area. Kids are able to learn more about migrating habits, and even the metamorphosis process that butterflies go through.

To really get a history lesson on the docket, we recommend checking out the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Ingham Maritime Museum. You’ll be able to have your children learn about this decorated warship, and all of those who gave their lives for this country. It’s also an excellent place to enjoy Key West sunsets.

Higgs Beach is the perfect way to spend the day with family. It's conveniently located to the attractions of Old Town Key West and is a popular spot to swim in the shallow waters. There are also tennis courts, a playground, and a dog park. Take a walk out to the end of White Street Pier for stunning views a chance for the kids to spot some fish.  On-sire rentals include beach chairs, umbrellas, kayaks, and paddle-boards.
