Events in the Florida Keys are designed to bring out the best in music, food, and art of the region and are a must for any tourist heading to the area. The Summer months in Key West are packed with exciting events. There is something for everyone! There are multiple on-the-water venues for patrons to enjoy, so if you're heading to Key West to enjoy the local flavor, this festival is your best bet. From July 4th to July 7th, the annual Key Lime Festival includes four days of unique talent shows, pie-eating contests, and a wide range of culinary events, including a cocktail sip and stroll and a Key Lime Pie Hop. The last event of the Summer is the Heroes Salute Tribute Weekend which is held from August 30th to September 1st at Hawks Clay Resort on Duck Key. The festival honors those from the military, fire and rescue, police, and hospital staff. A special Labor Day Weekend event is planned that includes a barbeque, heroes tribute, fireworks show, and live music.

When the calendar turns toward the fall months, the party keeps growing with several events. Kicking off the fall is the Annual Key West Fantasy Fest, a unique 10-day experience every year from October 18th to October 27th. It's a costuming and masking celebration that features colorful masquerades for pets, a headdress ball, flamboyant promenades, street fairs, and a large parade complete with marching bands, island groups, and beautiful floats. The last event of the fall is the Annual Taste of the Islands, which occurs every year in November. This is an entire day of food, art, and music. There is no admittance fee, and taste tickets will be sold so that you can sample the local food from the area restaurants. Enjoy the new smoked fish dip amateur competition as well as the local craft beer and wine.

Events in Key West happen all year round, and some of the best and most famous ones happen earlier in the year. Every year in February, the area holds the Third Thursday Art Walk, which showcases the Purple Isles' fine arts and culinary expertise. The Morada Way Arts & Cultural District has several national and local artisans who are on full display at the galleries of Morada Way. There is live music between the hours of 6pm and 9pm, and admission is free. One of the Keys signature events is the Original Marathon Seafood Festival which highlights the food from the local waters of the Florida Keys for the patrons to chow down on. There is also live music, vendor booths, treats, and beverages that make for the perfect weekend. Best of all, there is an open-air boat show staged at the festival entrance.
